On 14 August 2026, IIT Kanpur hosted Prof. Amit Kumar from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta, Canada. Prof. Kumar is the Canada Research Chair in Assessment of Energy Systems (Tier 1), Cenovus Energy Endowed Chair in Environmental Engineering, and Deputy Director of Canada’s Future Energy Systems. He also serves as Associate Director of the NSF Global Centre for Sustainable Bioproducts.

During the visit, Prof. Kumar met with Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations, and Prof. Ashish Garg, Head, Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, IIT Kanpur. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for academic and research collaboration between IIT Kanpur and the University of Alberta, including joint research initiatives, innovation-driven partnerships, and faculty and student exchange programmes.

Such interactions play a vital role in strengthening international cooperation and fostering excellence in global research and education.
