On November 7, 2024, a delegation from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan, visited the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to explore strategies to further enrich the collaboration and faculty/students exchange between the two esteemed institutions. IIT Kanpur currently has an active Joint Degree Program and an Academic & Research Agreement in place with NYCU.
The visiting delegation included Prof. Edward Yi-Chang, Dean of the International College of Semiconductor Technology; Prof. Hiroshi Iwai, Department of Materials Science and Engineering; Prof. Chun Hsiung Lin, Associate Dean of the International College of Semiconductor Technology; Prof. Wei-Hua Chieng, Associate Dean of the Department of Mechanical Engineering; Prof. Chun-Hao Chen, International College of Semiconductor Technology; and Prof. Girish Pahwa, International College of Semiconductor Technology.
During their visit, the NYCU delegation met with Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, and Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations at IIT Kanpur, to further enhance the academic partnership, strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, and plan ways to facilitate cultural immersion for both countries. Prof. Agrawal extended a warm welcome to the delegation and discussed the ongoing dual degree program as well as other tangible areas for partnership, including semiconductor research & new materials for computing, joint research initiatives, academic exchange programs, and collaborative innovation. Prof. Ateeq highlighted IIT Kanpur's global outreach efforts and expressed a strong interest in deepening ties with NYCU. The delegates also met with Prof. Prakash Chandra Mondal, Department of Chemistry, and Prof. Nilesh Badwe, Department of Material Science & Engineering.
This visit is considered a key milestone in promoting academic collaboration and strengthening bilateral ties between NYCU and IIT Kanpur, paving the way for future partnerships in education and research.
