Prof. Arun K. Somani, Anson Marston Distinguished Professor, Phillip and Virginia Sproul Professor, and Senior Associate Dean at IOWA State University, USA, visited IIT Kanpur on 11 August 2025. The purpose of the visit was to discuss joint research program between IIT Kanpur and IOWA State University. During the visit, Prof. Somani met with Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Dean of International Relations, along with faculty members, Prof. Pranamesh Chakraborty, Department of Civil Engineering; Prof. Satyadev Nandakumar, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Prof. Abhishek Sarkar, Department of Mechanical Engineering to explore avenues of academic and research collaboration.

Prof. Somani visited important research facilities of the Institute, including the FlexE Centre and C3iHub, to understand ongoing work in the areas of flexible electronics, cybersecurity, and allied fields. The discussions focused on identifying potential areas where both institutions could work together for mutual benefit.

Prof. Somani also addressed IITK students and delivered a lecture on “An innovative pathway to get opportunities in the USA”. He also shared valuable guidance on skill development, career planning, and exploring global opportunities. This visit further strengthened the academic relationship between IIT Kanpur and IOWA State University for future collaborations.
