Review of semiconductor physics radiative recombination. LEDs, optical cavity, DH and other lasers. PIN and APD detectors, detector noise. Optical fibers ray and mode theories, multimode and single mode fibers, attenuation, dispersion. Gaussian beams. Power coupling, splices and connectors.
