Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT-Kanpur, inaugurated the Shri Govind Hari Singhania Centre for Advanced Learning and Robotics Club of Kanpur, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre

 

   

Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT-Kanpur, inaugurated the Shri Govind Hari Singhania Centre for Advanced Learning and Robotics Club of Kanpur, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre (SPSEC), on 29th May, 2022, in the presence of Mrs Manorama Govind Hari Singhania, Chairperson; Mr. Partho P Kar, Director and Vice Chairman; Mrs Bhawna Gupta, Principal and the members of Science and Technology Council of Students’ Gymkhana, IIT-Kanpur. The first of its kind Robotics Club and AR-VR (Augmented Reality – Virtual Reality) laboratory in the city, are established in vital collaboration with the Science and Technology Council, Students’ Gymkhana, IIT, Kanpur. Thus, they become the first school in Uttar Pradesh to have a National Level Centre for Advanced Learning.


The Robotics Club and the AR-VR (Augmented Reality – Virtual Reality) laboratory aim to develop scientific temperament among students at an early age and provide them with an engaging experience to explore core concepts in robotics and artificial intelligence. The lab is designed to inculcate skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning etc. to be in sync with the global scenario. Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) have become the most popular and essential components of the digital ecosystem. These two trendsetting technologies have a computer-generated depiction of the real and artificial world. The students will be introduced to a whole new world of experiential learning through this state-of-the-art technology.


SPSEC will grant access to the Robotics Club not just to its students but also to those students in the city who are keen on joining it. The school, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Council of Students’ Gymkhana, IIT-Kanpur will arrange an array of workshops, lectures, and competitions for the students of the Robotics Club. The MoU between SPSEC and IIT-Kanpur will pave way for a streak of AI innovations for the participants and benefit them immensely. The students will receive guidance from the best minds in the field of Information and Technology.


Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre was founded in 1982 to perpetuate the memory of Sir Padampat Singhania, an industrialist, entrepreneur, a great philanthropist, and a nationalist. Sir Padampat Singhania’s patrimony was carried forward by his son, Shri Govind Hari Singhania, who had the privilege of becoming the Chairman of IIT-Kanpur for two consecutive terms. Now, his son, Mr Abhishek Singhania has been continuing with the school and its legacy.
