The first component is the core programme common to all students and is carefully planned to give the students a strong base of general education in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Sciences, Technical Arts, and Humanities and Social Sciences. The second component of the undergraduate programme includes professional courses and a project in the chosen branch of specialisation. The course structure in the core curriculum provides for large lecture classes with tutorial discussion hours and laboratory sessions in smaller goups. The professional programme, while providing the flexibility of having laboratory courses often independent of the lecture classes, culminates in a project involving the application of modern analysis and design techniques.
