At least 85% of all course content is developed and delivered by IIT Kanpur’s faculty members and long-term visiting faculty. Industry experts contribute selectively to provide practical and interdisciplinary perspectives, ensuring the perfect balance between academic rigor and real-world relevance.

Every course includes a strong emphasis on credible and transparent assessment. At least 50% of the total grade weight comes from in-person, proctored examinations held at authorized centers across major Indian cities.

This deliberate policy safeguards the integrity of the IIT Kanpur credential, ensuring that every grade earned reflects genuine understanding and effort. For international learners, online proctoring options are available with transparent reporting to maintain fairness and trust.

Hands-on learning, a challenge in online education, is being addressed through virtual laboratories, digital simulations, and project-based coursework that replicate real-world experimentation.

For programs that may require hands-on lab experience, IIT Kanpur is exploring hybrid models, including short campus residencies or collaborations with regional institutions, to ensure academic rigor while allowing professionals to balance their work commitments.

Unlike traditional government-subsidized on-campus programs, IIT Kanpur’s online initiatives are designed to be self-sustaining. The fee structure reflects the real cost of quality — supporting advanced digital infrastructure, secure evaluation systems, and continuous course improvement. The goal is long-term sustainability built on academic integrity, not commercial expansion.
