Professor Jitendra K. Bera, Dean of Faculty Affairs

Prof. Jitendra K. Bera is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry.

Prof. Bera obtained his PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, in 1999. After postdoc experiences at Purdue University and Texas A&M University, USA, he joined IIT Kanpur in 2003 as a faculty member.

Prof. Bera is a renowned inorganic chemist, engaged in the development of synthetic and mechanistic organometallic chemistry. His research is largely dedicated to the catalytic evaluation of reactions that directly address chemical aspects of renewable energy and sustainability.

Owing to his contributions to science, Prof. Bera has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the Swarnajayanti Fellowship, DAE Outstanding Investigator Award, J C Bose Fellowship, bronze and silver medals from Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI). He is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences (FASc), the National Academy of Sciences of India (NASI), and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
