Kanpur, June 6, 2022: On the occasion of the World Environment Day on June 5, 2022, Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur, organized a plantation drive on the campus. The plantation drive was initiated by Prof. Ankush Sharma, Co-Professor In-charge, SIIC, where he urged the public to plant at least one sapling in the name of their children.

The staff of SIIC, IIT Kanpur participated in the drive by planting 40 saplings of Peepal, Bargad and Neem around the incubation centre. During the plantation drive, Prof. Ankush Sharma informed about the prospective mandate of planting one sapling for each new recruitment and incubation of a startup at the centre.

A similar drive was organized at the Outreach Centre of IIT Kanpur at Noida, where Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, CEO, FIRST, IIT Kanpur planted saplings and emphasized that trees are our lifeline and a means to good health, economy and prosperity. He also highlighted the entrepreneurial perspective through forest produce, which can support several startups to build a viable business in sustainable fashion. He urged the public to double the green belt of our country in the next 5 years.

During the event, Mr. Piyush Mishra, COO, FIRST, Mr. Ravi Pandey, Mr. Anshu Singh, Mr. Rishabh, Ms. Harshita, Ms. Sonali and Ms. Priyashi were also present.
