IIT Kanpur celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2025, under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The campus came alive with the spirit of wellness and harmony as hundreds participated in a series of thoughtfully curated events aimed at amplifying the relevance of yoga in today’s world.

The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, graced by Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur. He was joined by Professor Pratik Sen, Dean of Students Affairs; Professor Tajdarul Hassan Syed, Associate Dean of Student Activities; and Professor Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, Dean of Administration; Professor J Ramkumar, Dean of Infrastructure and Planning. The presence of these dignitaries underscored the importance the institution places on holistic well-being.

A total of 10 targeted events were organized, including Yoga Sangam, Yoga Bandhan, Harit Yoga, Yoga Samavesh, and Yoga Unplugged, each designed to emphasize different dimensions of yoga—unity, environmental consciousness, inclusivity, and mental rejuvenation. These activities engaged students, faculty, staff, and their families in a collective journey of inner transformation.

A special highlight of the day was the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session, streamed live from Visakhapatnam and led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The IIT Kanpur community joined millions across the nation in following the protocol, symbolizing national unity through wellness.

Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director IIT Kanpur said, "The celebration of the International Day of Yoga at IIT Kanpur reflects our deep commitment to holistic health and well-being. Yoga is one of the most meaningful practices one can embrace—for physical vitality, mental clarity, and inner peace. It fosters a profound connection with oneself, the environment, and the community. I extend my best wishes to all participants and encourage everyone to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives.”

Prof. Pratik Sen, Dean of Student's Affairs said, “The International Day of Yoga is a reminder of yoga's timeless value to our lives. At IIT Kanpur, we celebrate this day to inspire students and staff to integrate yoga into their routines for enhanced physical and mental well-being.”
