You will have to reside outside IITK as your hostel room will be allotted only on 21st July.
Please note that the date of reporting to campus is 21st July from 7:00 am- 7:30 pm, and rooms will be allocated on arrival itself. Students are very strongly recommended to reach on 21st July, otherwise, they will miss a part of their Orientation. However, they will not incur any problems in registration. Orientation will be from 22nd July onwards. Parents Orientation is scheduled on 22nd July itself.
It is highly discouraged to arrive after 21st as we have planned a lot of orientation activities for you and the registration process will be happening side-by-side. Normal registrations will be done till 28th July.
No, parents are not required in any step of the orientation/registration process. However, there is a Parents Orientation planned for 22nd July which the parents are encouraged to attend.

Parents can visit their ward’s allocated hall. They must vacate the Hall at 7:30 pm at night. They must make arrangements for their lodging themself. It's recommended that parents make arrangements in advance.
Digilocker files will work for online uploading and verification. But for offline on-campus document verification, we require original tangible documents.

Approved fee structure is available at your Pingala web page and DOSA website under the head 'News and Events' 'For New Students'.
Tentative fee certificate for new batch of B.Tech/BS/MSc is available in DoSA website under the head 'News and Events' 'For New Students'. However, if you require semester wise fee details, please write to dosarecep@iitk.ac.in.
The fees waiver are given to the following category of students: - MEB: Most Economically Backward families (income < ₹1 lakh) get 100% tuition waiver. - OEB: Other Economically Backward families (income ₹1–5 lakh) get 1/3rd tuition fee. - SC/ST/PWD: Fully exempted from tuition based on category certificate. No waiver for M.Sc./Ph.D/MBA/M.Des/DIIT students except SC/ST/PWD category.
Copy of complete Income Tax Return (ITR) of family (Self, Father, Mother, Unmarried Siblings) and Tuition Fee Waiver Affidavit on Rs. 20/- Stamp paper duly signed by First Class Magistrate/Public Notary as per format available on DoSA website. Submit original affidavit to DoSA office in first semester.
No. EWS certificate alone is not considered. Income proof must comply with Para 4(a).
The student shall deposit full fees at registration and excess fees may be claimed on submission of valid income certificate to DoSA office.
Submit Request Letter, Publication of names in Gazette/News Papers for reconsideration of income certificates.
Excess fees can be refunded on submission of valid proof within one year through Pingala Portal.
Apply in Pingala Portal in Excess Fee Refund Module.
Reasons: a) Scrolling issue on Pingala portal b) Online payment reconciliation c) Payment via RTGS – send UTR to receipts@iitk.ac.in, brsac1@iitk.ac.in, dosaregd@iitk.ac.in. Also check for pending dues and biometric attendance.

No, EWS certificate is not applicable for fee waiver.
It is mandatory for parents to submit their ITR. ITR can be filed online. Student or siblings submit if asked.
Yes, ITR + AIS from Income Tax Department is mandatory to receive fee remission.
PAN Card is mandatory for filing ITR. If zero income, declare PAN number and zero income. If parents don’t have PAN, they must apply for it.
AIS (Annual Information Statement) is a detailed statement from Income Tax Department. TIS is condensed version. AIS required along with ITR.
