A Device (TCAD) to Circuit (SPICE) Framework for BTI and HCD Aging

Abstract- This talk will begin with the basics of Bias Temperature Instability (BTI) and Hot Carrier Degradation (HCD) induced performance degradation in CMOS devices and circuits. A comprehensive reliability model will be introduced, which has been implemented in TCAD and also as a standalone code in SPICE. Various examples of modeling of measured data from GAA FETs will be shown. Finally, the activity (mission profile) and Dynamic Voltage Frequency Scaling (DVFS) analysis in circuits will be discussed.

Mr. Milind Dighrasker, Senior Director, ON Semiconductor, will deliver a talk on "Overview of Design Challenges for SiC-based Traction Inverters" as a part of the "K R Sharma and Dr. M. Ramamoorty Distinguished Lecture Series"

Title: Overview of Design Challenges for SiC-based Traction Inverters Abstract: The adoption of SiC in traction inverters is increasing due to its advantages of higher efficiency, higher power density, and improved packaging/thermal performance. SiC outperforms the IGBT in traction inverters and provides an extended driving range for electric vehicles. However, many challenges need to be addressed/considered during the inverter design while using SiC for the traction inverter. Additionally, the choice of the gate driver and its features impact the traction inverter performance, reliability, functionality, and safety aspects.
The talk will provide an overview of key design aspects of traction inverters that need to be considered while using SiC. Also, it provides a detailed insight into the gate driver for traction inverter, its features, challenges, and advancement in this area.
