National Workshop at IIT Kanpur Empowers Academic Staff Through Training and Collaboration

The Staff Training Unit of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur successfully organized a three-day national-level workshop that brought together participants from leading academic and research institutions nationwide. The event was a vibrant platform for professional development, knowledge sharing, and collaborative learning, reinforcing IIT Kanpur’s commitment to excellence in higher education and capacity building.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from staff and administrators representing various prestigious institutions, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, central universities, IIMs, and research bodies such as C-DOT. The diversity of participants enriched the sessions with a broad range of perspectives, leading to deep and interactive discussions throughout the event.

It was inaugurated by Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur whose insightful speech set an inspiring tone for the days ahead. He highlighted the increasing importance of skill development and capacity building in administrative roles within academic institutions. He stated, “Our administrative and support staff are the backbone of institutional growth. Investing in their training is as crucial as academic development. This workshop demonstrates our ongoing commitment for empowering the people who support our institution.”

Professor Braj Bhushan, Deputy Director of IIT Kanpur, played a pivotal role in encouraging and motivating the participants throughout the workshop. He graciously felicitated the distinguished resource persons and emphasized the significance of continuous learning and inter-institutional collaboration in building resilient and future-ready academic systems. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked, “The rapid changes in higher education demand that we not only adapt but lead with innovation and understanding. This workshop embodies that spirit—bringing people together to learn, share, and evolve collectively.”

Mr. Vishwa Ranjan, Registrar of IIT Kanpur, was instrumental in meticulously planning and executing the workshop. His foresight and attention to detail ensured that every aspect of the event—from logistics to learning outcomes—was managed with the highest standards of quality and professionalism. His session also made a significant contribution to discussions on administrative efficiency and leadership within academic institutions.

The presence of distinguished resource persons further enriched the event: Shri Kanhaiya Chaudhary, Joint Secretary (Retd.), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India; Shri G.C. Prasad, Finance Officer, State Level Nodal Agency (JSWM), Rural Development Department, Ranchi; Shri Kumar Rajesh, Director (General Administration), ICAR, New Delhi; and Shri Vishwa Ranjan, Registrar, IIT Kanpur. Their extensive expertise and engaging sessions added tremendous value to the learning experience.

This workshop marks another significant step in IIT Kanpur’s broader mission to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation in India’s academic ecosystem. By creating such platforms for professional development, the institute continues to lead the way in strengthening institutional capacities and enhancing the impact of higher education nationwide.
