Kanpur, 23 January 2026: The Cell for Differently Abled Persons (CDAP), Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, marked a proud presence at the National Para Sports Fest “SANGAM 2026”, held at IIT Delhi on 17 and 18 January 2026. The national-level sporting event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 350 differently-abled sportspersons representing prestigious institutions from across the country, including IIT Kharagpur, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IGNOU, and several colleges affiliated with Delhi University, among others.

Students from IIT Kanpur delivered an exceptional performance, earning accolades for the institute through their remarkable achievements across multiple sports disciplines. Their display of determination, resilience, and sportsmanship were widely appreciated by peers, organizers, and spectators alike.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Sharad Kumar, eminent Indian Para Athlete and Arjuna Awardee, whose presence inspired the participants and added prestige to the event.

IIT Kanpur students delivered an outstanding performance across multiple sports disciplines, earning significant accolades for the institute. In Cricket, the IIT Kanpur team emerged as the winners of the finals, showcasing exceptional teamwork and skill. Abdul Anas Beg was named Player of the Match for his impressive performance, while the team was led by Aayush Priyadarshi, who served as the Team Captain.

In Athletics, IIT Kanpur athletes demonstrated remarkable excellence in both categories. In Category 1, Gaurav Swarnkar secured the Gold Medal, while Aditya Prakash won the Silver Medal. In Category 2, Aman Kumar clinched the Gold Medal, and Munna Kumar earned the Silver Medal, further adding to the institute’s medal tally.

The institute also recorded commendable achievements in Badminton, with strong performances across categories. Daksh Panwar won the Silver Medal in Category 1, Abdul Anas Beg secured the Silver Medal in Category 2, and Vuppulam Prajwal claimed the Silver Medal in Category 3, reflecting IIT Kanpur’s consistent performance across sporting events.

The commendable performance of the IIT Kanpur contingent at SANGAM 2026 reflects the institute’s continued commitment towards inclusive sports, empowerment, and equal opportunities for students with disabilities.

CDAP, IIT Kanpur remains steadfast in its mission to nurture talent, promote accessibility, and encourage excellence among differently-abled students by enabling their participation on national platforms.
