Kanpur, March 19, 2023: The 57th edition of Antaragni, IIT Kanpur's iconic cultural festival, concluded on Sunday amidst much fanfare. The final day saw various finales, fierce competitions, and electrifying performances from various artists. The fourth day hosted the finale of Nukkad Natak competition, where the participants put up a mirror of the society with their unique performances. It was followed by the Hindi Poetry writing competition – Kavyanjali, and the Antaragni Idol singing competition. Both the competitions kept the audience engaged, till the day proceedings moved to the awaited finale of Jitterbug - a western group dance competition. It made the whole audience in the auditorium groove. The Color Run event on Day 4 offered an immersive colorful experience for everyone to dance to the beats of the finalists of DJ War. The energy of the music, the liveliness of colours and the sheer excitement of the event filled the air with joy. Continuing the spirit of enriching talks, IIT Kanpur hosted Mr Karnal Singh, Former Chief of Enforcement Directorate (ED), for the India Inspired event. He shared his life experiences, his story with the audience, and his words of encouragement instilled inspired the students to serve the nation and its people. Among the literary and art events, the India Quiz, HELM Quiz, a Battle of Art, Creative Writing, Pair on Stage, Debate, Kirdaar and Mandala Art competition, were the highlights of Day 4. Antaragni lived up to the expectations of being a platform that hosts exceptional talents across various competitions. Ventriloquist Satyajit Ramdas Padhye and comedian Rajat Chauhan's performances left the audience in splits. Satyajit's impeccable ventriloquism skills, coupled with his charming stage presence, mesmerized the audience. On the other hand, Rajat Chauhan's rib-tickling jokes and impeccable timing kept the audience engaged throughout his performance. The Kavi Sammelan at Antaragni proved to be an evening filled with poetry, wit, and charm. The lineup featured some of the most prominent names in the world of Hindi poetry, including Fehmi Badayuni, Amit Sharma, Charagh Sharma, Manika Dubey, Priyanshu Vatsalya, and Swayam Srivastava. Ekagra Sharma, an accomplished poet himself, was anchor for the event. The Acapella competition saw participants harmonising their voices to create stunning melodies, while the Mimica competition witnessed contestants captivating the audience with their gestures and expressions. Both events left the audience spellbound. As the night fell, the Qawwali Eve came to life as the celebrated Qawwali singer Tariq Faiz took to the stage and wove his magic with his soulful voice transporting the audience to a blissful state. Divyansh Rana, a young and versatile Indian writer mesmerized the crowd with his poetic prowess at the Talent Fiesta. The evening got star-studded as the sensational musician duo Salim-Sulaiman rocked the stage at Blitzkrieg. It was an electrifying night with their chartbusters. The four-day cultural extravaganza finally came to an end with enchanting performances across all genres. Antaragni 2023 edition is going on in full-swing at IIT Kanpur; Day 2 and Day 3 witnessed energetic performances Kanpur, March 18, 2023: The 57th edition of Antaragni, IIT Kanpur's iconic cultural festival, is going on in full swing with several energetic performances. On Day 2 (March 17), prelims of Pair on Stage, the duo singing competition, Nukkad Natak competition, and Antaragni Idol prelims, were held during the day. The Alum Inspired event was graced by the presence of Dr. Uday P Singh, the Secretary-General Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Association, where he shared the learnings from his experiences in civil, water, and environmental engineering. Stage Play, Jitterbug, Aamne Samne, a debate competition, a Japanese Quilling and an Origami event, marked Day 2 proceedings in the daytime. Estampie - a solo dance competition, saw huge engagement from across India. The reputed RAW WAR was on the judging panel for the competition. Ritambhara, one of the biggest inter-college fashion competitions, was held in the auditorium, and has some amazing innovative and designs on display. Judges Pankhuri Gidwani and Zoya Afroz, graced the event. Day 2 also saw the culmination of the eight-month-long competition to celebrate the beauty of rock music - Synchronicity - in a grand finale that was held in high spirits and was headlined and judged by the proficient rock band Gultslit. For all the pop and rap enthusiasts, the Battle Underground was the one place to witness, with celebrated beatboxer Dilip and rapper MC Heam, judging the event. The evening turned mystical with some harmonious ragas and talas during Classical Eve. The captivating melody of the electrifying flutist S.Akash, Shubh Maharaj, harmonium player Lalit Sisodia and tabla virtuoso Unmesh Banerjee, complemented by the refreshing vocals from Nirali Kartik left the audience in awe. Antariksh, a profound artist and rock band, stole the show at night; while Pina Colada Blues and 39 Kingdom performed their best sets and playlists during the EDM night. Further up, the “International Carnival” had celebrated musician Alexa Rose and renowned guitarist Matt Bacon delighting the crowd with their stellar performances. The second day also had a Silent Disco and Comic Kaun, which left the audience in laughter. The thrilling Fire Show performed by the Kashi Fire Warriors was another star attraction of Day 2. The Day 3 kicked off with Roots, a traditional dance competition that highlighted the skills of talented dancers who showcased their cultural heritage through various dance forms. Remaining sessions of Estampie - solo western dance competition, was also held. A lot of musical competitions took place throughout the day including Sangam- a celebration of classical music, Junoon- a celebration of fusion-rock, and Unplugged. This was followed by the Alum Inspired event that hosted Rajan Singh, Ex IPS officer & CEO HabitStrong. In the Women Empowerment session, two remarkable personalities - Ms Aruna Roy, an Indian Social activist and Ms Manasi Pradhan, the founder of Honour for Women National Campaign, graced the occasion. Day 3 had the MELA Quiz, Word Games, and Sports Quiz, Poetry Slam, Tour De Force dance competition, and the prelims of Antaragni Idol that included captivating ghazals, exhilarating qawwalis, as well as folk, film, and indie rock performances. Stage Play Finale kicked off with participants showcasing their skills in acting, directing, and stage production. The play performances ranged from serious dramas to comedic faces, each bringing a unique perspective and message to the stage. The JAM and Debate competitions, held in both Hindi (Aamne-Saamne) and English, the Fashion Geek competition, and the Monoact, the monologue competition, witnessed a sequence of brilliant performances in each domain. India Hatt, a celebration of the diverse cultures and traditions of our country, featured the performances of two traditional art forms - Bhangra, a Punjabi folk dance and Mallakhamba, involving performing acrobatic feats on a vertical pole. The Major highlight of the day was the soothing, and soulful performance by the sensational Bollywood singer Mohammed Irfan, in the Fusion Nite. The third day also marked the beginning of DJ War - a battle amongst the top DJs of the country, which culminates in the celebration of the winners via the Colour Run. The day came to a close with the fashion event- Impressionate judged by Poonam Yadav along with other judges. The night witnessed Mehfil that hosted Swastika Rajput and Chetna Balhara, and Battle Underground, a flagship event of Antaragni that celebrates rap music, along with Silent Disco. IIT Kanpur inaugurates 57th edition of Antaragni today Kanpur, March 16, 2023: Amidst a euphoric ambiance, the 57th edition of the much-anticipated cultural festival of IIT Kanpur, Antaragni, kicked off in its full-fledged offline mode today. The festival began with the opening ceremony by 4 pm on 16th March at the Outreach Auditorium of IIT Kanpur. The occasion was graced by Prof. Shalabh, Dean, Academic Affairs; Prof. Arnab Bhattacharya, ADSA (Associate Dean, Students Affairs); Prof. Pratik Sen, ADHA (Associate Dean, Hostel Affairs) ADHA and Festival Advisory Committee (FAC) member Prof. Vimal Kumar. The ceremony marked the commencement of Antaragni by the lighting of the lamp. There was a classical dance performance of Ganesh Vandana to start the event. The faculty members gave inspirational talks to the participants of the opening ceremony and wished them luck for the four-day event. The inaugural ceremony concluded with everyone singing the National Anthem. For over 56 years, Antaragni has been a beacon of excellence and talent, promoting a celebration of love, light, and life. This year, the festival is set to take place in its full-fledged offline mode from March 16 to March 19, 2023. Registering more than 1 lakh footfalls during the four-day schedule, Antaragni has become a grand spectacle of magic, imbued with a charming aura of joy and ecstasy. The India-inspired talks this year is scheduled with influential thought leaders Kiran Bedi, Former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and Karnal Singh, Former Chief of Enforcement Directorate (ED); while the Alum Inspired event boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including alumni Dr. Uday P Singh, Secretary General, Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council; Riya Bhattacharya, former Vice President, Navi; and Rajan Singh, Ex IPS officer & CEO HabitStrong. The ‘Mehfil’ series features poets and performers Muskan Saxena, Ishika Chandelia, Sangita Yaduvanshi, Mirza Suleman, Swastika Rajput, and Chetna Balhara. Musical prodigy Antariksh will take center stage on the rock night; while Bollywood night will feature the legendary Salim-Sulaiman duo, renowned for their chartbuster songs. The EDM night will feature international EDM artist 39 Kingdom. The festival's theme, "Houdini's Paradise," is an oasis of entertainment, featuring something for everyone - from the thrilling Escape Room and Gaming Zone to the exhilarating Zorbing and Silent Disco, to the classic favorites Poker and Archery.
