Kanpur, 13 September, 2024: The Health Centre at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has initiated a lecture series as part of its Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. This series is designed to enhance patient care, elevate the skills and professional performance of medical officers and paramedical staff, and foster a stronger connection between the Health Centre and referral services. The program kicked off with a comprehensive lecture by Dr. Yuvraj Gulati, renowned nephrologist, who addressed the screening and prevention of common kidney diseases. Professor Vikas Mishra from the Department of Microbiology at GSVM Medical College shed light on the various aspects of needle stick injuries during clinical practice. Dr. Harit Chaturvedi, Head of Oncosurgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, along with Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi, Oncoplastic Surgeon at the same institution, provided valuable insights on breast cancer screening and the latest advancements to tackle cancer-related challenges. In subsequent sessions, Dr. Vivek Saxena, Pediatrician, provided an in-depth analysis of fever management in pediatric patients, focusing on both common and complex cases. Dr. Abhinit Gupta, Cardiologist, offered valuable insights into the management of cardiac emergencies within primary care settings, emphasizing practical approach and timely interventions. Dr. Shekhar Rastogi, Ophthalmologist, discussed the unique eye emergencies faced by the IIT Kanpur community, especially students, highlighting preventive measures and emergency response strategies. Dr. Pawan Singh, Dermatologist, addressed prevalent skin conditions, providing practical advice on diagnosis and treatment to enhance dermatological care.
