Research Topic

Rate dependent plasticity of soil and instability behavior: The objective of this study is to assess the rate effect phenomena in soil with emphasis on particle interaction and effect of pore pressure on stress-train behavior at high strain rate. Presently, work is going on development of a new rate dependant constitutive model capable to predict high strain rate effect during fast monotonic loading. Instability and stain localization phenomenon under high strain rate is another focus of this study. A general framework for predicting various types of instability under rate independent loading has been established and the analysis will be extended for rate dependent conditions to study high strain rate induced instability phenomena.

Research Topic

The research topic of my thesis work is "Curvature Sorting of Proteins on a Cylindrical Lipid Membrane". Peripheral membrane protein can sense or generate the curvature to the lipid membrane. Most of the biological processes depend on membrane curvature sensing and generation (MC-S &G) of the protein binding. A theoretical study is being done to understand the mechanism of MC-S&G by using a model system consisting of a tether pulled from a giant unilammellar vesicle (GUV) using mechanical-thermodynamic models.
