Topic:Study and Control Of Turbulent boundary layer for Drag reduction on axisymmetric body using Synthetic jet.
Introduction:Successful ﬂow control that reduces the skin-friction drag in turbulent boundary layers can lead to signiﬁcant benefits by saving fuel consumption. The impact on the reduction of emissions of pollutants would be equally impressive.
There are two types of drags namely pressure drag and skin friction drag.Pressure drag is caused by wake formation behind the body and it can be reduced by making streamline bodies. The main sources of skin friction drag are streamwise vortices and sweep events. There are different methods to reduce friction drag.One of the active flow control method is synthetic jet.A synthetic jet is produced by interaction of train of vortices that are typically formed by alternative momentary ejection and suction across an orifice such that net mass flux is zero. A unique feature of the jets is that they are formed entirely from the working fluid of the flow system in which they are deployed. Synthetic jets can transfer linear momentum to the flow system with out net mass injection across flow boundary
