C3iHub, IIT Kanpur Conducts Specialized Training on Maritime Cybersecurity for Indian Ports Association Officials

 

   

Kanpur, December 23, 2025: C3iHub, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, successfully conducted a two-day specialized training programme on Maritime Cybersecurity for officials of the Indian Ports Association (IPA) at the IIT Kanpur – Noida Extension Centre.



The programme was designed to enhance cybersecurity preparedness across India’s maritime and port ecosystem, addressing emerging cyber risks to critical infrastructure. The training featured in-depth sessions on key focus areas, including compliance and regulatory requirements, social media threat profiling and dark web analysis, open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigations and suspect profiling, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR), network security assessment, and cloud security.


The programme was enriched by the presence of Dr. Arvind Bhisikar, Executive Director (IT), Indian Ports Association, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur, Mr. Akhilesh Variar, IPS, National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC), a unit of NTRO, and Dr. Tanima Hajra, Chief Executive Officer, C3iHub, who shared valuable insights on strengthening cybersecurity frameworks for critical maritime infrastructure.


During the inauguration of this training program, Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur, said, "IIT Kanpur, through C3iHub, remains committed to strengthening the nation's critical infrastructure through continuous capacity building and advanced cybersecurity training. These well-structured training programs, which combine academic expertise with real-world cybersecurity practices, are timely and are aimed at significantly enhancing the capability of India's port and maritime sector to defend against evolving cyber threats."


Expert-led technical sessions were delivered by Mr. Omprakash Mishra from TCIL, along with Mr. Dipanshu Parashar, Mr. Yugal Pathak, and Mr. Prashant K. from SAP, providing strong industry perspectives and hands-on exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges.


From the C3iHub side, Dr. Anand Handa, Chief Strategy Officer, Cdr Bheem Reddy (Retd.), Mr. Dheeraj Dixit, CISM, and Mr. Rahul Shukla were also present and actively contributed to the programme.


Through such initiatives, C3iHub, IIT Kanpur continues to play a pivotal role in advancing cybersecurity capacity building for critical sectors, reinforcing India’s digital trust and maritime resilience.
