IIT Kanpur's Staff Training Unit Conducts session on Awareness of Contract Labour Management

 

   

Kanpur, May 08, 2025: IIT Kanpur's Staff Training Unit conducted a session to improve contract labour management practices within the institution. It was designed to equip administrative staff and managers to handle contract labour effectively.

Prof. Braj Bhushan, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur; Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Resource Person, Chief Administrative Officer, IIPR Kanpur; and P.D. Anand, Registrar, IIT Kanpur, were present in this training session. After the Deputy Director's address, the ceremony felicitated all the distinguished guests.


Resource Person Dr. Pankaj Kumar explained how to maintain accurate records and avoid discrepancies during the Contract Labor Management session, which might lead to legal complications. Also, the session addressed EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organization) compliance to help employees better understand their pay scale, rights, and duties. Interactive discussions and practical case studies helped participants understand the challenges and solutions in managing contract labor effectively.


Deputy Director of IIT Kanpur, Prof. Braj Bhushan, said, "The Staff Training Unit at IIT Kanpur fosters an environment of transparency and compliance through such initiatives, ensuring that contract labor management aligns with legal standards and ethical practices."

Dean of Administration Dr. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava said, "IIT Kanpur's Staff Training Unit ensures smooth operations and complies with labor regulations by organizing such sessions, thereby creating a fair and supportive working environment for all employees."


Towards the conclusion of the session, Mr. Sarang Shirish Nandedkar, Assistant Registrar, extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pankaj Kumar for leading an engaging and insightful discussion. The training not only enhanced awareness about contract labour management and legal compliance but also reaffirmed IIT Kanpur’s commitment to fostering a transparent, fair, and inclusive workplace. With active participation and knowledge-sharing, the session served as a step forward in strengthening the institution's administrative capabilities and ethical standards.
