Kanpur, December 4, 2024: The Department of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITK), in collaboration with the Magnetic Society of India (MSI), successfully concluded the 'School on Magnetism and Spintronics 2024', a prestigious three-day international workshop held from December 2 to 4, 2024. This initiative brought together over 100 aspiring researchers and students from across India, providing them with an unprecedented opportunity to explore the advanced realms of magnetism and spintronics. The workshop featured a stellar lineup of 30 global experts who delivered 13 comprehensive tutorials and 17 insightful talks, exploring foundational concepts and the latest advancements in these dynamic fields. The event commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, blending academic tradition and scientific promise. The traditional lamp-lighting ceremony was led by distinguished academic leaders Prof. Kumar Vaibhav Srivastava, Dean of Administration; Prof. Tapobrata Sarkar, Head of the Department of Physics; and Prof. Rohit Medwal, Convener of the workshop. Beyond traditional lecture formats, participants engaged in interactive learning sessions, delved into advanced research topics, and showcased their innovative work during a dedicated poster session. This hands-on approach fostered a collaborative environment that encouraged critical thinking and intellectual exchange. The workshop was followed by a performance by Amrita K Bhushan and her young disciples, adding a unique and vibrant cultural dimension to the event.
