Kanpur, March 31, 2026: The Indian Institute of technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), Vadodara signed an MoU on March 24, 2026, to collaborate on education, training, skilling, and research with particular emphasis on transportation and logistics technology.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director, IIT Kanpur and Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, GSV in the presence of Prof. Tarun Gupta (Dean of Research & Development), Prof. Yogesh Singh Chauhan (Head, Department of Electrical Engineering and Head, Centre for Railway Research), and Prof. Deepu Philip (Professor In-charge, Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) and Technopark@IITK). The collaboration will facilitate aerospace training and advanced laboratory exposure for GSV undergraduate students at IIT Kanpur, joint research initiatives in railway research and relevant sectors, and interdisciplinary research and design activities spanning rail, road, aerospace, and marine domains.

It will also promote integrated research and design activities across rail, road, aerospace, marine and inland waterways, cross-cutting digital technologies such as AI, machine learning, computer vision, and intelligent transportation systems.

This collaboration will drive the development of indigenous technologies across transportation sectors. It aims to increase travel speed, reliability, and safety. The partnership will provide opportunities for exporting indigenous goods and services in the transport and logistics sector. It will also include faculty exchange programs and training for GSV students in IIT Kanpur Labs. The focus is to raise training standards to the highest global levels.

This partnership is poised to support the vision of the PM Gati Shakti Master Plan by advancing indigenous technologies and manufacturing.
