IIT Kanpur organized blood donation camp on occasion of Republic Day

 

   

Kanpur, January 27, 2023: IIT Kanpur’s Team Techkriti organised a Mega Blood Donation Camp on occasion of the 74th Republic Day in association with Sankalp Seva Samiti, Raktarpan, 92.7 BIG FM, site partner UPMRC, and coverage partner Sheel Digital Studio. The camp was held between 11 AM and 4 PM at three venues – IIT Kanpur Campus, Motijheel Metro Station, and Kanpur University Metro Station.



The Blood Donation Mega Camp was inaugurated at MotiJheel Metro Station by Mr. Arvind Singh, Project Director, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation and Mr. Sarveshwar Shukla, Joint Commissioner (Industries), Government of Uttar Pradesh. Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur graced at the camp hosted at IIT Kanpur’s Yoga Hall.


A group of doctors from IMA (Indian Medical Association) and GSVM Medical College (Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College) moderated the process from examination to collection of blood. Over 300 people volunteered to donate blood under the initiative. The medical professionals’ team commended Team Techkriti's efforts and urged people to donate blood at prescribed intervals. They also dispelled some common myths related to blood donation.


Techkriti is Asia’s one of the largest technical and entrepreneurial festivals, organized by IIT Kanpur student team. It is a four-day annual inter-collegiate festival with participation in large numbers from institutions across India and abroad. Team Techkriti has been hosting blood donation camps at regular intervals at campus and other venues in Kanpur city.
