IIT Kanpur is inviting applications for the third cohort of eMasters Programs to start in January 2023

 

   
  • The eMasters programs are one-of-a-kind and offers 60 credits across 12 modules.

  • The third cohort will be offered three PG programs - Communication Systems, Cyber Security, and Power Sector Regulation, Economics and Management.

  • Applications are open till September 30, 2022, and classes will start in January 2023.

Kanpur, September 23, 2022: After getting a huge response in the previous two batches, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has announced the next cohort of eMasters with three postgraduate programs - Communication Systems, Cyber Security, and Power Sector Regulation, Economics and Management. Starting in January 2023, these eMasters programs will provide an executive-friendly virtual learning environment that will deliver course content online and help upskilling working professionals with industry experience and expand their career options.


The 60-credit, 12-module industry-focused curriculum offers flexible completion timelines (one to three years), IIT Kanpur alumni status, access to IIT Kanpur’s placement cell, alumni network, and incubation cell. The credits earned during the programs can be transferred to an advanced degree (regular M.Tech. or Ph.D.) at IIT Kanpur by the participants selected to pursue the advanced degree and subject to Senate approval.


Announcing the opening of applications for the next batch across three programs, Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, said, “In last few years, IIT Kanpur has brought significant reforms in broadening the learning and curricular spectrum of the institute. Our eMasters program is a one-of-a-kind initiative to ensure more flexible and seamless learning opportunities by going beyond the traditional scope of learning. In the last two years, we have got a great response from more than 250 professionals preferring to enroll across four eMasters programs. We are glad to be launching the next batch across three programs that start from January next year. I believe that all the three programs would cater to the needs of professionals across sectors to get carefully curated and regularly updated information and knowledge on industry-relevant areas. It will help enhance their domain expertise and get them to play a key role in India’s digital transformation journey.”


Each of these eMasters programs is offered in a hybrid delivery mechanism where participants learn online in an experiential format from distinguished faculty of IIT Kanpur through the digital delivery platform ipearl.ai. They also get the opportunity to visit IIT Kanpur to meet faculty and experience campus life. Corporates can also nominate their employees for these programs as part of their Learning and Development initiatives or talent retention plans.


eMasters program in Communication Systems is specifically designed for professionals in the fields of Communications Equipment, Computers & Electronics, Electronics & Electrical, Optoelectronics & Fiber, Network Equipment & Virtualization, Telecommunication, VLSI, IoT, and Signal Processing. This program would arm working professionals with a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of modern digital communications systems. The program will address the needs of trained professionals given the rapid developments in the field of communications with the advent of 5G, 6G and Edge Computing in our country.


eMasters program in Cyber Security has a strong focus on building capabilities in evolving threat landscapes. It trains cyber security professionals in the latest tools and technologies, techniques, and concepts, to navigate through the changing scenarios of cyber security. The program is beneficial for cyber security enthusiasts who are planning to master hands-on learning by combining deep formal rigor and an intensely practical approach to counter cyber threats and challenges.


eMasters program in Power Sector Regulation, Economics, and Management is curated from an engineering, economic, and regulatory perspective. The program aims to provide professionals with a conceptual understanding of the power sector, with regulations building on fundamental economic principles. The program focuses on building insights into the development of electricity markets in India and discussing the challenges and opportunities ahead. It will prepare professionals for the upcoming and evolving scopes and scrutiny in the field of electricity.
