Course Contents This course will engage with the concept of Ideology, and its relationship with literature. Beginning with a definition of Ideology and its various sub categories, the course will go on to examine how ideology impacts both the creation and the reception of literary texts, both explicitly and implicitly. In the process, we will analyses the many different kinds of relationships that a literary text may have with ideology, ranging from propagation and elaboration, to refutation and critique. We will also attempt to understand how ideology creates and impacts different schools of literary criticism, and its relationship with aesthetic modes of literary reception.
