IIT Kanpur announces GATE 2023 results; around 18% qualifies

 

   

Kanpur, March 16, 2023: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, today announced the results of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023. As the organizing institute this year, IIT Kanpur successfully conducted GATE 2023 with the final session held on 12th February. The examination was held on 4, 5, 11 and 12 February, 2023 in eight sessions.


About 6.70 lakh candidates registered for GATE this time for 29 papers, in total. Out of these, 5.17 lakh candidates appeared for the examination in more than 500 centres across the country with an overall attendance of about 77%.


GATE 2023 was conducted in twenty-nine subject areas with the choice of selecting two papers in some subjects. From the 5.17 lakh that appeared, around 1 lakh candidates have qualified the GATE 2023 examination, making it about 18% as GATE 2023 qualified.


Out of the 29 papers, 12 papers registered more than 20% qualified candidates. Among those, the Metallurgical Engineering paper records about 25% qualified candidates making it the highest qualified percentage for GATE this year.


The scorecards will be available to all the candidates by 22nd March in the GATE 2023 application portal. Candidates will be able to download the scorecards until 31st May 2023 without any fees.

IIT Kanpur hosts GATE 2023 successfully


Kanpur, February 12, 2023: IIT Kanpur announces the successful completion of GATE 2023 with the final session held on 12th February. The examination was held on 4, 5, 11 and 12 February, 2023 in eight sessions. The examination this year witnessed overwhelming response with about 6.8 lakh candidates registering for it. GATE 2023 was held in more than 500 centres across the country with an overall attendance of about 77%. This surpassed the attendance from last year's edition.


Says a spokesperson from the GATE 2023 organizing committee, “The examination was held smoothly in all sessions, except for a delay of about 1 to 1.5 hours in the last session in few centres due to a technical glitch. However, the examination went smoothly after the issue was resolved. All the affected candidates were given full three hours. Transportation to bus stands and railway stations was arranged for the candidates from some of these affected centres, and were also offered refreshments. Overall, it was a successful conduction of the examination.”


GATE 2023 Examination


Admit Cards are available for downloading by candidates since 9th January 2023. All candidates must bring a printed copy (preferably coloured) of Admit Card at the examination venue as mentioned in the Admit Card.


Candidates with two papers must bring respective Admit Cards.


Candidates are advised to check the schedule of their examination and centre details.


Candidates must carry a valid original government approved photo Identity Card along with the Admit card.


GATE 2023 Examination is scheduled to be conducted on 4, 5 and 11, 12 February 2023.


Examination will be conducted in 216 cities at 503 centres across 8 Zones in India and one centre in Dubai, UAE.


About seven lakh candidates will write examination for 29 examination papers. This includes about fifty thousand candidates writing examination for two papers.

IIT Kanpur Announces New Examination Cities and Details on Two Paper Combinations for GATE 2023, registration begins from 30th August, 2022


The addition of the new cities/towns will help in reaching out to more students, especially from rural areas


Kanpur, August 26, 2022: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur has announced new examination centres for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - GATE 2023. With the addition of 23 new cities/towns, the GATE 2023 will now be conducted in 219 cities across India. The decision has been taken keeping in view the convenience of students, especially from the rural belts. As the organizing institute this year, IIT Kanpur is aiming to reach out to as many students as possible from all the nooks and corners.


Last year, GATE 2022 was conducted across 206 cities, but 10 of the earlier cities have been dropped this year due to operational issues, while many new ones have been added.


GATE 2023 will be jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The cities are distributed among these eight zones, while IIT Kanpur is the organizing institute. It will be organized on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE (NCB) and the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.


GATE 2023 will also be conducted in international cities of Dhaka (Bangladesh), Dubai (UAE), Kathmandu (Nepal), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Male (Maldives), Port Louis (Mauritius), Singapore (Singapore), and Thimphu (Bhutan). However, candidates from all other countries can write examination in any of the Indian examination cities as announced on GATE 2023 website.


The examination is a computer-based test (CBT) and will be conducted in twenty-nine subject areas with the choice of selecting two papers in some subjects. Along with the new cities, details on the two-paper combinations for GATE 2023 are also updated on the official website. There are 82 two-paper combinations available for GATE 2023 with the addition of some new paper combinations. Some combinations of GATE 2022 are removed due to logistic/operational issues. Applicants can choose their preferred two-paper combinations from a wide range of interdisciplinary areas.


The examination will test the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences. Prospective candidates studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or those who have completed any government degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Sciences / Commerce / Arts shall be eligible. GATE is diversified to include students from Arts and Commerce streams as well, for them to achieve better opportunities for higher studies.


The official website stores all the necessary information regarding the exam pattern, zones, syllabi, and so on. Prospective candidates are able to access question papers from previous years as well, for help in preparation. GATE holds tremendous potential for students aspiring for higher studies. It helps in getting admission to and/or getting financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government institutions. IIT Kanpur launches GATE 2023 official website; online application to begin from 30 August, 2022


Kanpur, July 28, 2022: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, has launched the official website for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering - GATE 2023. The website was launched by Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur on 27 July, 2022, on behalf of IIT Kanpur, which is the organizing institute for the upcoming GATE 2023. The examination will be jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. It will be organized on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE (NCB) and the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
