A three-day national conference of psychology hosted by the department of cognitive science, IIT Kanpur

 

   

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is hosting the virtual 30th annual convention of National Academy of Psychology in India. The convenor of the conference, Prof. Narayanan Srinivasan gave a brief introduction about the Annual Convention. The conference was inaugurated by Prof Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur. Prof Abhay Karandikar welcomed eminent psychologists and scholars from across the country and wished them a fruitful conference. Prof Karandikar urged the psychologists to focus on how technology and its use influence mental health especially in the current COVID situation. Prof. Karandikar also urged close interactions between psychologists and engineers. Prof Sonali De presented a brief report about NAOP activities last year and pointed out that the convention has come full circle, as the first annual convention of psychology was held at IIT Kanpur.



President NAOP, Prof Minati Panda thanked the director, IIT Kanpur for providing the logistic support for holding the conference and the organizing committee for putting together the conference at a short notice. She discussed her research on mathematics and education with children and stressed on the importance of cultural situatedness in designing pedagogies for the classroom.


Dr. Ark Verma thanked everyone on behalf of the local organizing committee and Dr. Devpriya Kumar briefed the audience about participation in the online programs.
