Photonics Science and Engineering Programme (PSEP) is an interdisciplinary postgraduate (PG) Program offered by the Centre for Lasers and Photonics (CELP). The aim of PSEP is to train engineers/scientists in interdisciplinary activities in photonics The M.Tech programme runs for 4 semesters and includes both course work and a thesis component. Course work includes mandatory courses and electives that students can opt for in consultation with the convener of the PSEP. Students also complete a 2 semester thesis with one of the CELP faculty as part of their M.Tech degree in photonics domain. A unique part of M.Tech experience at CELP is a course on laboratory techniques that provides students with an opportunity to learn hands-on experimental skills in photonics.
The students are admitted to the M.Tech program depending on the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score. The students are also admitted under the sponsored category subject to selection through the interview process. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with the B Tech/BS (Four Year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B Tech/BS (Four Year). The detailed eligibility criteria of the M.Tech program are listed on IITK Admissions Page
