Photonics Science and Engineering Programme (PSEP) is an interdisciplinary postgraduate Program offered by the Centre for Lasers and Photonics (CELP). The aim of PSEP is to train engineers/scientists in interdisciplinary activities in photonics. The PhD program includes both course work and a thesis component. Course work includes mandatory courses and electives that students can opt for in consultation with thesis supervisor and Departmental Postgraduate Committee (DPGC) Convener. The PhD program significantly contributes to the departmental research work.
Students are either admitted through M. Tech/M.E. or after B. Tech/B.E. The candidate having a B.E/B.Tech or a MSc degree should have a valid GATE or JRF score in order to apply for PhD admissions. However, GATE score is exempted for candidates having B. Tech degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTI) candidates. All the candidates have to go through the interview process in order to be selected for the PhD program. PhD students are also admitted under Quality Improvement Program (QIP) subject to selection through an interview process.
