Call for PhD Spot Admissions (For July 2026 intake)  

Applications are invited for Spot PhD admission to July 2026 at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Note: (For final year B.Tech./B.S. and M.Tech./M.S. students from CFTIs (Centrally funded Technical Institutes including IITs/IISc/NITs/IIITs /IISERs) & final year B.Tech./B.S. students from the top 100 NIRF-ranked engineering institutes only; not applicable to graduated students)

Degree Department General Requirements
PhD in Engineering Chemical Engineering (i) Final year M.Tech/M.S with a minimum of 80 percent marks/8.0 CPI (CFTIs).
{GATE requirement is waived}
or
(ii)Final year B.Tech/B.S with a minimum of 75 percent marks/7.5 CPI (CFTIs).
{GATE requirement is waived}
or
(iii)Final year B.Tech/B.S with a minimum of 75 percent marks/7.5 CPI (CFTIs or Top 100 NIRF colleges).
{Valid GATE Score is compulsory at the time of joining.}

Financial Assistantships

1. Financial support (in the form of Institute Assistantship) is available to the regular (non-sponsored) students of the PhD programme amounting to Rs. 37000/- for the first two years, and thereafter, it is raised to Rs. 42000/- for another three years. The student is expected to carry out the assigned duties during the programme to maintain eligibility for continued financial support.
2. Students may also avail financial assistantship from external funding agencies (such as UGC/CSIR/NBHM/INSPIRE/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/PMRF etc.).
