Prof. R. N. Biswas Faculty Chair in Teaching Excellence

The Prof. R. N. Biswas Faculty Chair in Teaching Excellence has been established by IIT Kanpur alumni in honour of Prof. R. N. Biswas, one of the Institute's most respected and admired teachers. The Chair recognizes faculty members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to undergraduate teaching and encourages innovation in pedagogy. Born in 1939, Prof. Biswas earned his B.Sc. (Physics Honours) from Presidency College, University of Calcutta, in 1957, followed by an M.Sc. (Tech) from the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, in 1960. He completed his Ph.D. in Electronic Circuits from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1966 and joined IIT Kanpur as an Assistant Professor in 1967. Through this Chair, his enduring legacy and commitment to excellence in teaching will continue to inspire generations of faculty and students at IIT Kanpur.

Prof. Malay Kumar Das

Prof. Malay K. Das from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has research interests in Energy Conversion and Storage, Hydrodynamic Instability, and Fluid and Thermal Science. He received his M.Tech. from IIT Kanpur and his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University, USA.

Prof. Baquer Mazhari

Prof. Baquer Mazhari , Department of Electrical Engineering , research and teaching interests span different aspects of microelectronics including semiconductor devices and analog/digital circuits. For the last two decades, his research has centered on organic and flexible electronics and helped in establishment of Samtel Centre for Display Technologies in the year 2000 and the National Centre for Flexible Electronics at IIT Kanpur in the year 2014. For his contributions to the field of teaching, he has received the Distinguished teacher award, Gopal Das Bhandari Memorial award and Excellence in teaching award by IIT Kanpur. He earned his doctorate from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1993.
