Satya and Rao Remala Foundation Chair

Mr. R.V. Rao Remala (MT/CSE/1974) is a distinguished software engineer, angel investor, and philanthropist currently associated with Cronus Ventures, LLC. He is recognized as one of the earliest employees at Microsoft and the first Indian to join the company.
He spent over two decades at Microsoft Corporation, where he worked as a Technical Director and contributed to foundational software products, while collaborating with senior leadership on initiatives that shaped early personal computing.
Prior to Microsoft, he worked at DCM, the Computer R&D Centre, and Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL). He holds a bachelor's degree from REC Warangal and a master's degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
He has established the Satya & Rao Remala Foundation Chair in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur through the Satya & Rao Remala Foundation, USA, to promote research in Artificial Intelligence applications in health technology.

Prof. Piyush Rai

Prof. Piyush Rai from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur, has research interests in latent variable models, probabilistic modeling, approximate inference, and nonparametric Bayesian methods. Prof. Rai also holds a joint appointment in the Department of Intelligent Systems (DIS) at the Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems (WSAIS), IIT Kanpur. He received his B.Tech. from IIT (BHU) Varanasi and his Ph.D. from the School of Computing at the University of Utah, USA.
