Class of 1986 Young Faculty Fellowship

Mr. Pramath Raj Sinha (BT/MT/1986) is an entrepreneur, institution builder, and education leader. He is the Founder and Trustee of Ashoka University, Founding Senior Partner at Jetri, and Founder of the Vedica Scholars Programme for Women. He also founded Harappa Education and The Naropa Fellowship, initiatives focused on transforming higher education and leadership development in India.

Earlier, he served as the Founding Dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB), President of upGrad, Founding Provost of Anant National University, Managing Director and CEO of ABP Pvt. Ltd., and Principal at McKinsey & Company. Over a career spanning academia, business, and institution-building, he has played a pivotal role in establishing and scaling several pioneering educational institutions and organizations in India.Mr. Sinha earned his B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1986 and subsequently completed his MSE and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha instituted the Class of 1986 Young Faculty Fellowship and this fellowship is open to young faculty members of all the departments of IIT Kanpur.

Prof. Dibyendu Kumar Das

Prof. Dibyendu Kumar Das is Associate Professor from the Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur. His research lies at the intersection of virology, biophysics, and single-molecule imaging, aiming to elucidate the mechanistic principles of viral entry during cellular infection and to inform the design of vaccines based on structural and dynamic insights.

Prof. Das received his Ph.D. from Indian Association for the cultivation of sciences, Kolkata and his postdoctoral from Vanderbilt University, USA.

Prof. Abhishek K. Gupta

Prof. Abhishek K. Gupta received his B.Tech.- M.Tech dual degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2010 and PhD degree in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2016. He is currently working as an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He heads the Modern wireless networks group at IITK. His research is in the area of stochastic geometry and modern communication systems, including 5G, mmWave, THz, vehicular, and molecular communication. He was recipient of IEEE wireless communication letters exemplary reviewer award in 2016, GE-FS leadership award by General Electric Foundation and Institute of International Education in 2009 and IITK academic excellence award for four consecutive years (2006-2009). He is author of the books, An introduction to stochastic geometry (Springer Morgan-Claypool, 2022), Numerical methods using MATLAB (Springer Apress, 2014), and MATLAB by examples (Finch, 2010). Before joining IITK, he was working as Sr. standards engineer at Samsung Research America in Dallas, TX, USA. In the past, he has worked in Applied Microelectronics Circuit Corporation (Pune), Futurewei Technologies (NJ) and Nokia Networks (IL).
