Dr. Devendra Shukla (BT/CE/1967) is the founder of one of the strongest environmental businesses in the northwestern region of United States. Innovative Technical Solutions (ITSI) is an award-winning infrastructure and environmental firm that has an extensive experience of working with the federal government departments and other agencies worldwide. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building company. In 2009, IIT Kanpur conferred upon him the Distinguished Alumnus Award for his outstanding entrepreneurial excellence and managerial skills. Dr. Shukla instituted Dr. Shukla New Faculty Fellowship.
Dr. Sathesh Mariappan is the Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Kanpur. Before joining IIT Kanpur, he worked as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral
fellow in the Department of Helicopters, German Aerospace Center, Goettingen. He is a recipient of the INAE, IEI, and ISEES Young Engineer Awards, the International Exchanges Award from The Royal Society- London, and the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship. His research focuses on combustion-driven oscillation, machine-learning methods for engineering applications, and optical flow diagnostics. His research interests include Fundamentals of Thermo acoustic interactions, Application of dynamical systems theory to thermo fluid systems, Mechanism of dynamic stall in rotorcrafts, Optical flow diagnostics and Acoustic measurements. At IIT Kanpur, his research team established 1) Advanced Combustion Acoustics Laboratory-
focusing on developing greener and quieter combustors and 2) infrastructure for the preparation, painting, and usage of India's first Temperature Sensitive Paints for aerodynamic applications.
