The Prof. Vinod K. Singh Distinguished Lecture Series at the Department of Chemistry, IIT Kanpur, has been established through generous contributions from the students, collaborators, family, friends, and well-wishers of Prof. Vinod K. Singh. The series features distinguished speakers who present diverse perspectives on organic chemistry in an accessible manner. Designed for the IIT Kanpur community, it exposes researchers and graduate students to the evolving scope of the field.
Prof. Vinod K. Singh is a renowned academician and leader in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, with a career spanning over three decades. Currently, he is a Professor Emeritus at IITK, holding the Institute Chair position. He also holds the position of Director's Chair Professor at IISER Bhopal. Prof. Singh has made groundbreaking contributions to research and the management of higher educational institutions. His leadership extends beyond academia, with key roles in governing scientific research councils and national educational policies and mentoring future generations of scientists. Recognized globally for his expertise, Prof. Singh has been honored with prestigious awards like the Padma Shri (2014), Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize (2004), Vigyan Ratna Award of U.P. (2006), J.C. Bose fellowship (2009), Samman Patra by UP Government (2018) reflecting his profound impact on science and education in India and beyond.

Prof. Varinder Aggarwal

Prof. Varinder Aggarwal spoke on "Synthesis with Boron at the Helm". He is a professor at University of Bristol. Prof. Aggarwal is given the title of Alfred Capper Pass professor of chemistry due to his contribution in the field of chemistry, particularly in the area of asymmetric synthesis and boron chemistry. He received his bachelors in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, University of Cambridge.
