Chemical Engineering Foundation
The Chemical Engineering Foundation includes the Jeet Bindra Student Travel Grant and the Jeet Bindra Distinguished Lecture Series, both established by Mr. Jagjeet Singh Bindra (BT/CHE/1969) in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur.
Jeet Bindra Student Travel Grant
The Jeet Bindra Student Travel Grant aims to facilitate the academic and professional growth of students in Chemical Engineering by enabling them to present their research at international conferences. This grant not only provides financial assistance but also encourages students to engage with the global academic community, enhancing their research experience and broadening their professional networks. Through this endowment, Mr. Bindra continues to contribute to the advancement of engineering education and research at IIT Kanpur.
For FY 2024-25 Jeet Bindra Student Travel Grant was awarded to Ms. Sajal Wankhede and Mr. A . S. RUSSEL
Sajal Wankhede at PRiME 2024 Conference, HonoluluSajal Wankhede presented his research, “Nature of Instability in Electrokinetics-based Anodic Oxide Pore Formation,” at the Pacific Rim Meeting on Electrochemical and Solid-State Science (PRiME 2024) held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Jeet Bindra for his generous support through the Jeet Bindra Travel Grant, which enabled my participation in the Pacific Rim Meeting on Electrochemical and Solid-State Science (PRiME 2024) in Honolulu, Hawaii.
“SAJAL WANKHEDE”
A. S. Russel at EuChemS Chemistry Congress, IrelandA. S. Russel presented a paper titled “Insights into Promotional Effect of Cobalt in Ni-Co Catalysts through DFT-Aided Microkinetic Modelling during Oxidative Dry Reforming of Methane” at the EuChemS Chemistry Congress held in Ireland.
I sincerely thank Mr. Jeet Bindra for the financial support that enabled me to attend the 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress in Dublin. This opportunity allowed me to present my research to a global audience, engage with pioneers in the field, and explore collaborations and receive career opportunities as a postdoctoral researcher.

Jeet Bindra Distinguished Lecture Series
Mr. Jagjeet Singh Bindra, a distinguished alumnus, has instituted the Jeet Bindra Distinguished Lecture Series in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. The series invites eminent scientists and industry leaders from India and abroad each year to deliver insightful lectures, promoting knowledge exchange, networking, and insights into academia, research, and careers.
Jeet Bindra Distinguished Lecture 2025
Speaker: Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant
Prof. Pant spoke on the "Redefining the Future of Energy: Sustainable Pathways and Technological Innovations”.
An IIT Kanpur alumnus with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Prof. Pant is currently the Director of IIT Roorkee. His research focuses on heterogeneous catalysis, clean energy, sustainable resource recovery, and circular economy technologies, with an emphasis on carbon-efficient solutions for India's energy and environmental challenges.
Jeet Bindra Distinguished Lecture 2024
Speaker : Dr. Ramesh Gupta
Dr. Gupta spoke on “The Carbon Challenge: Background, Current Status and Evolving Carbon Capture Technologies”.
Dr. Ramesh Gupta, an IIT Kanpur alumnus (BT/CHE/1969), earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University and began his career at Caltech. He joined Exxon (now ExxonMobil) in 1977, where he spent over four decades working on reactor engineering, refining processes, carbon capture, and process modeling, while also serving as an adjunct professor at Washington University in St. Louis. A recipient of multiple Exxon awards and the holder of 50+ U.S. patents, he continues to contribute as a technical consultant from New Jersey.
