The Joy Gill Endowment Fund has been established by Mr. Ajit S. Gill (BT/EE/1969). Through this endowment, Mr. Gill has created a Faculty Chair, awards, and scholarships, significantly contributing to advancing research and supporting students at IIT Kanpur.

Joy Gill Chair
The Joy Gill Chair supports outstanding young faculty members (below 45 years of age) in the fields of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering.

Prof. Dr. Bushra Ateeq | Department of Biological Sciences & Bioengineering
Prof. Bushra Ateeq is a distinguished researcher in molecular oncology and cancer genomics, with over two decades of experience in translational biomedical research. She leads the Molecular Oncology program at IIT Kanpur, where her work has significantly advanced the understanding of prostate cancer, particularly in Indian patients.
Her research has contributed to critical discoveries in molecular subtyping and genetic alterations, with far-reaching implications for diagnostics and precision medicine. She has been honored with several prestigious recognitions, including the J.C. Bose Grant (2025) and the TWAS Award (2026), and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (India).
She expresses her sincere gratitude for the continued support, noting that the Joy Gill Chair endowment has played a vital role in advancing research and nurturing the next generation of scientists within her team.
