Rao Remala Fund
Mr. Remala Venkateswara Rao (MT/CSE/1975) instituted the 'Rao Remala Travel & Support Program' to support Ph.D. students in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. The program provides financial assistance to PHD students to present their research at national and international conferences, enabling them to engage with the global academic community and showcase their work on prestigious platforms. Through this initiative, Mr. Rao has strengthened research exposure and academic excellence within the department.The initiative helps researchers present their work, gain feedback, build global networks, and stay updated with emerging trends.
During the year 2024-25, four PhD students used the travel support from Rao Remala Fund for presenting their research work at reputed international conferences.
- Mr. Bhargav C. S. presented his research at the STOC 2024 conference in Vancouver, Canada, and also visited the University of Toronto, Canada for collaborative research.
- Mr. Madhavan Venkatesh presented his work at a joint meeting of mathematical societies in Auckland, New Zealand.
- Mr. Shubham Kumar Nigam presented his research at NAACL 2025 in New Mexico, USA.
- Mr. Sumit presented his ASE 2024 research on program synthesis for visual puzzles at the ARCS event, Coimbatore, India.
Their participation led to valuable academic exposure, collaborations, expert feedback, and opportunities for future research and career growth.
