Dr. Raman P. Singh is an Associate Dean for Engineering at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa. He also serves as a Professor and Head, School of Materials Science and Engineering and Professor, School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University (OSU), US. He is also appointed as a Director, Helmerich Research Center, and Helmerich Family Endowed Chair Professor of Engineering at OSU. The Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) has named Dr. Raman P. Singh as director of the program in October 2021.
Dr. Singh did his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1990. Subsequently, he earned his MS and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the University of Rhode Island, US in 1992 and 1995 respectively. His areas of interest include Experimental mechanics, Fracture mechanics, Composite materials, Dynamic failure. He works in the fields of failure mechanics of advanced and complex material systems, with an emphasis on the development of new techniques for material failure characterization. His research work at his lab has been funded by the National Science Foundation, NASA, the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science & Technology, the Oklahoma Transportation Commission, the US Army Research Office, the Department of Energy, and industry. He holds two patents and has co-authored several papers. Dr. Singh is a member of the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
