Dr.Salil Sarkar is a Professor of Finance at the College of Business at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Ph.D. Program Director for the Department of Finance and Real Estate. In addition, he is also a member of the Faculty Senate and serves on several Senate subcommittees.
Dr. Sarkar did his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering in 1977 from IIT Kanpur. Soon after his graduation, he started working for multinational Larsen and Toubro. He came back to academia to finish his Ph.D. in Finance from Louisiana State University in 1991 and worked in regional state universities Louisiana and Arkansas before joining UTA in 1996 . Dr. Sarkar received his MBA in Finance from Northeast Louisiana University in 1987.
At UTA, Dr. Sarkar primarily teaches Business Finance and Advance Business Financial Analyses at the undergraduate, Business Financial Management, Investments, and Seminar in Corporate Finance, at the graduate levels.
His research interests include Corporate Finance, Investments, Presidential Politics and Options.His research articles have appeared in the Journal of Behavioral Finance, Financial Management (twice), Journal of Banking and Finance, Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting, Review of Financial Economics (twice), European Journal of Finance, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Journal of Emerging Financial Markets, Managerial Finance, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics (twice), The Quarterly Review of Economics, and Finance (twice), International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Economics and Finance, Financial Analysts Journal, and European Journal of Operations Research.
Dr. Sarkar serves on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives and Review of Accounting and Finance and has served as a reviewer for several journals and conferences, including the Financial Management, Financial Review, International Review of Economics and Finance, Global Business and Finance Review, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, Journal of Macroeconomics and Review of Accounting and Finance.
