Prof. Arkaprava Basu

Prof. Arkaprava Basu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Automation at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and has been serving as a Visiting Professor at EPFL, Switzerland, since November 2024. His research focuses on computer architecture, computer systems, and hardware-software co-design, with contributions spanning both academia and industry.





Profile

Prof. Basu received his B.Tech. in Computer Science Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Following his Ph.D., he joined AMD Research as a Research Professional, working on next-generation computer architecture and systems research. Earlier, he also gained industry experience as a Co-op Engineer at AMD Research, a Research Intern at IBM Research India, and a Software Engineer at Sybase.

He joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, as an Assistant Professor in 2018 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022. Since November 2024, he has also been serving as a Visiting Professor at EPFL, Switzerland, further strengthening international research collaborations. Throughout his career, he has combined academic research with industry experience to advance the design of efficient, high-performance computing systems.
