Mr. Rajiv Shanti Swarup received his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1973
He served as the Founding President of the Shiv Nadar University, and led the University to the Institution of Eminence and 48th NIRF University Rank in 2018 within 8 years of university formation. As Chief Customer Officer and Senior Corporate VP of HCL Technologies America and India, he led incubation of many new business verticals and several software development centers in non-English Speaking countries across the word, these later became growth engines for HCL Technologies.
He led the establishment of Prof. R.N. Biswas and Prof T. R. Viswanathan Faculty Chair for Distinguished Teachers and Young Faculty Fellowships in Teaching Excellence, a unique initiative to reward and motivate great teachers. He was instrumental in strategizing the formation of IIT Kanpur Development Foundation, the fund raising arm of IIT Kanpur. The Cybersecurity Hackathon conceptualized and led by Rajiv, promotes IIT Kanpur through cybersecurity. It is now an annual event of the C3iHub at IIT Kanpur and attracts over eight
thousand participants from across the globe. Rajiv actively led the campaign for the Institution of
Eminence for IIT Kanpur on social media and in promoting Gangwal School of Medical Science & Technology among the alumni. He was honored with the Distinguished Services Award by IIT Kanpur in 2022.
