About Medical School
IIT Kanpur has a long history of successfully attempting innovative approaches in education, technology, and research projects that impact society. One such ambitious project is the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology. The school is involved with innovations in medicine and healthcare, which will be driven by technological interventions. With its strong track record and infrastructure in MedTech Innovation, IIT Kanpur aims to address this gap by establishing a one-of-a-kind Medical School to bring about a paradigm shift in the approach towards medical care and innovation in the country.

The Medical School plans to offer super-speciality postgraduate medical programs such as DM and MCh programs in the regular medical stream, as well as transdisciplinary research programs (MS and PhD) in engineering, science, and medicine interface areas. In the first phase, the school will prioritise research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Hospital Complex
Hospital Complex: This complex includes the 500+ bed Yadupati Singhania Super-speciality Hospital and the 50+ bed Cancer Care and Research Centre. With world-class facilities on board, it will offer affordable treatment in specialities such as oncology, cardiology, cardiovascular thoracic surgery, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, etc., to over 4 million people within a 300-km radius of Kanpur.

The Medical School complex is situated on a 30-acre plot within the IIT Kanpur campus. Covering a total built-up area of 810,000 square feet, the first phase of the project is dedicated to constructing a super speciality hospital and a separate oncology building, as well as essential supporting infrastructure such as an engineering block, electricity substation, and sewage treatment facility. Additionally, the campus will feature an academic block and studio apartments for resident doctors.
