Air Marshal Raj Karan Singh Shera (MT/EE/1990)


Air Marshal RKS Shera is a retired Air Officer Commanding in Chief Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force. He previously served as the Air Officer-in-charge Maintenance of the Indian Air Force's (IAF) Maintenance Wing and also as a Senior Maintenance Staff Officer (SMSO) at HQ Maintenance Command. Sqn Ldr Shera is one of the few engineers trained in the erstwhile USSR on MiG-29 aircraft.

Air Marshal RKS Shera was posted to a combat Sqn, the first squadron to get converted to MiG-29. With his professional approach, he efficiently handled the complex task of setting up the first MiG-29 Squadron DSS. The proof of his efforts, especially in terms of planning and organising, was evident from the fact that within no time the squadron could commence operations in an organised fashion. He also was instrumental in the pioneering work of making 1st line servicing schedules and ORP procedures. The Air Force Officer is an alumnus of prestigious National Defence College (NDC). He is also a Fellow of Institute of Engineers, Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication and Aeronautical Society of India, besides being member of Computer Society of India. IITK conferred upon Air Marshal Raj Karan Singh Shera the Distinguished Alumnus Award, 2020.
