Air Marshal Raj Karan Singh Shera (MT/EE/1990)


Air Marshal RKS Shera is a retired Air Officer Commanding in Chief Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force. Air Marshal RKS Shera PVSM AVSM VSM was commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering Electronics Branch of the Indian Air Force on 05 January 1981. Presently he is an Honorary Mentor to CSIR-CSIO Lab based at Chandigarh.

Air Marshal Raj Karan Singh Shera holds a postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and is also an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College (NDC). He has tenanted the chair of the highest Executive Functionary in Engineering Vertical as Air Officer-in-charge Maintenance (AOM) at Air HQ and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) Maintenance Command. During his career of four decades, the Air Officer has held several important command and staff assignments that include SMSO MC, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Eng A), SMSO WAC, Station Commander No. 1 TETTRA School, Director MiG-29 Weapon Cell at Air HQ, Chief of Aircraft Production at Base Repair Depot, Inspector in Directorate of Air Staff Inspection (DASI), Chief Engineering Officer of Fighter Base and Instructor at Technical Training School, Botswana (Africa). He was trained in Russia on MiG-29 aircraft at the time of fleet induction in 1986 and has rich experience of maintenance in the field of Aircraft, Radar, Communication and Guided Weapons. For his distinguished service, the Air Officer was awarded “Param Vishisht Seva Medal” in 2020, “Ati Vishisht Seva Medal” in 2014 and “Vishisht Seva Medal” in 1993 by the President of India. He retired from Indian Air Force after rendering 39 years distinguished service on 31 Dec 2019. Presently the Air officer is an Hony Mentor to CSIR-CSIO Lab based at Chandigarh. He is also a member of the Computer Society of India.
