IIT Kanpur’s Old Sports Complex gymnasium recently underwent a major transformation, supported by the generous contribution of the Class of 1970. The upgraded facility, whose foundation stone was laid in February 2023 and inaugurated in August 2024, stands as a reflection of the Institute’s commitment to promoting health and wellness among its community members.The new gym has significantly improved the campus’s sports and fitness infrastructure, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for physical well-being among students and staff.

The renovated gym now includes modern fitness machines and larger workout areas to meet the growing needs of the campus community. It has quickly become a vibrant space for students to pursue their fitness goals, fostering an environment that encourages both personal discipline and collective motivation.

The Institute expresses its sincere gratitude to the Class of 1970 for their thoughtful contribution and continued engagement with IIT Kanpur.
